Family Stories

Inside of a rundown cinema-turned-recording-studio in Taipei, the LunarFest team hosts a special concert; it is a concert for people who might have left their birthplaces or homes for one reason or another.  Every family, every community, and every culture is always full of stories which often spark great conversations. Meet Wei-Jie Huang, a Taiwanese Hakka musician who spent a year and a half meeting with people who are far away from home, helping their families make ends meet.  Celebrating the Lunar New Year is an important tradition for Wei-Jie but his music is meant to also bring warmth to the people around him including the migrant workers from Indonesia, newcomers from Vietnam and fisherman from the Indigenous tribes.

Joining Wei-Jie in this storytelling via music are Toru Hayakawa (from Japan) and Jiya Urianghai (Mogolian-Taiwanese) as the trio present a very unique virtual concert for the Year of the Ox.
